Correlation Leverage

There is a lot of financial jargon one hears in almost all financial circles. These terms not only tend to stand out as indicators of your understanding of the market, but also provide a lot of information to help you keep track of the current developments in the global market scenario.

In the realm of finance, leverage is also known as gearing. In layman’s terms it can be accurately described as the action of increasing borrowings with the main goal of trying and increasing equity. The borrowings are generally in the form of loans or debt that result in an enhanced positive or negative outcome. This is because the financial market, just like any other transaction-based activity is always dynamic and highly unpredictable. For example, there is always a correlation risk/error associated with leveraged exchange-traded funds or ETFs’. This is because these funds are similar to stocks and profit from them is solely based on the trends in the stock exchange.

Correlation leverage includes two important aspects that are: the variability in the value of a business enterprise and the variability of the conglomeration of risky assets. The degree to which the variability values of these two entities are correlated is the correlation leverage. Advanced portfolio management employs correlation logs that statistically help track the degree to which two given securities move together, but never in tandem.

Index funds are considered to be one of the safest modes of investment especially in the wake of the global financial crunch. These are popular because of their easy and quick liquidity as their ownership is clearly defined and they are comparable to mutual funds. The market return on index funds is nearly 30% and they score higher in profits when compared to the equity schemes. If you are averse to risk and do not believe in subjecting yourself to a change in lifestyle by sacrificing yourself to suit the whims and fancies of the troublesome stock market, this is the most suitable investment option for you.

Asset management or investment management is a process of accounting that involves tracking fixed assets in a comprehensive, methodical and structured way for long-term gains and mobilizes returns on investments. Simply put, asset management involves the supervision of money and investments, budgets, taxes, banks, etc. Any investment is subject to market fluctuations. Today’s investors recommend selling insurance on stocks to make a tidy sum of money.
